I was always a hygiene conscious person but became more so when I started traveling over a decade back. There was no way I would not go out and explore. Be it the by-lanes of Chandni Chowk in saddi dilli or the cobbled streets leading to the pristine beaches of Bali. So how then does a hygiene-conscious person like me get over the OCD while on the move or even when I am in my own city with its rising pollution levels?

Simple. I carry hand sanitizers (and sometimes wipes) with me everywhere. Always a part of my handbag, sanitizers can also be seen in my car storage and (strategically placed) in nooks of my house.

Himalaya Wellness sent me 5 new hand sanitizers a few weeks back. Himalaya has been in business since 1930, so I didn’t think twice before trying out the different variants. The sanitizer contains extracts of herbs like Lime and coriander which are known to have great medicinal properties.

Ingredients:

Dhanyaka or Corriander, Ushira or Khas Khas or vetiveria zizanioides.  Cyperus scariosus, also known as Cypriol, Shati or Hedychium spicatum, and Nimba or Neem

How to use:

• Squeeze approximately 0.5 ml (coin-sized drop) of the PureHands gel on your palms.
• Rub well over the palms, back of hands, fingernails, and grooves briskly, until dry. No water required after use. Close the flip-top tightly after use.

My review:

• Comes in a small and conveniently sized plastic bottle that can easily fit into your bag without taking too much space.
• Has different variants. From clear sanitizer to fruity fragrances, you’re spoilt for choice.
• Kills 99% germs without the use of soap or water (As claimed by Himalaya)
• Gentle on the skin and prevents itching
• Doesn’t dry skin despite being alcohol based
• NOn-sticky and spreads easily.
• doesn’t leave a residue on your hands
• Smells great
• A drop is enough for a one-time use
• Affordable

I have tried all the variants (Litchi, Orange, Strawberry, Green Apple and Lemon) but my favourite has to be Orange for it’s fruity and tangy smell. A  must have personal care essential!
